Public and Professional Education
Public Education
The West Texas Regional Poison Center provides public education in the West Texas region. We provide hundreds of presentations to the general public, local businesses, community centers, civic organizations, schools, churches and any other group interested in learning about poison, poison center services and poison prevention. We also participate in many health fairs and career days at schools and community centers throughout the year.
Since 1995, we have hosted the annual Poison Jungle Safari at the El Paso Zoo. This event focuses on the education of families in the El Paso region on poisonings and how to prevent them. The Poison Jungle Safari takes place every March during National Poison Prevention Week.
Over the years, we have developed several brochures and educational materials in English and Spanish. These educational materials are available to any group or individual free of charge provided that we have some in stock. You can request education materials from this website by clicking on the “Order Materials” tab under Education. Due to the high cost of shipping, there is a limit on the number of materials we will ship to any one person or organization. These limits are indicated on the order page next to the pictures of the items available.
If you would like an educational program or would like to request educational materials over the phone, please call 1-800-222-1222 and ask for the educational department.
