Salvador Baeza, PharmD

Salvador Baeza has been a Specialist of Poison Information at the West Texas Regional Poison Center (WTRPC) in El Paso since 2002.  He is originally from Presidio, Texas, which is a small bordertown in the Big Bend region of Texas that is best known as one of the nation’s hotspots for its high temperatures. 

He completed his pre-pharmacy coursework at Angelo State University before receiving his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 2001.  He completed a Pediatric Pharmacy Residency before joining the WTRPC.  He was certified by the American Association of Poison Control Centers as a Certified Specialist of Poison Information in 2003. 

In 2007, Dr. Baeza became recognized as a Diplomat of the American Board of Applied Toxicology which provides specialty recognition to professionals who demonstrate exceptional knowledge, experience, and competence in applied clinical toxicology.  He is a member of the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, American Board of Applied Toxicology, American Association of Poison Control Center’s SPI Committee, along with other pharmacy organizations. 

In addition to answering the hotline, Dr. Baeza coordinates numerous projects and clinical trials for the center and assists with the teaching of pharmacist-interns and physician residents during their toxicology rotation.  He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
